RMD‘s Camera System Tested in Brazil
A major freight rail operator in Brazil has recently completed successful tests of RMD’s camera system, focusing on improving safety during shunting operations. Initial contact between the parties was established in the summer of 2025. Following further discussions and training of RMD’s local agent, the test period has now begun.
Brazil is currently reviewing its regulatory framework for safety in heavy freight rail operations. As a result, the customer – a heavy haul operator – has taken the initiative to launch an internal safety program. Within this program, several technical systems are being evaluated, and when it comes to safety during shunting operations, RMD’s camera system is of particular interest.
Successful Initial Test
The first test was carried out with positive results. Connectivity and image quality remained stable throughout the test, both for the shunting personnel on site and for the evaluation group that followed the operation remotely via the camera system’s interface. The test was followed by constructive discussions and valuable feedback.
The customer has already indicated an interest in adding two more camera units. The aim is to shorten the evaluation period and enable testing at multiple locations across the country in parallel.
