Association of Swedish Train Operating Companies, Söderberg & Partners and Railway Metrics and Dynamics launch concept to reduce insurance costs
In recent days, it has been confirmed that Association of Swedish Train Operating Companies and Söderberg & Partners will implement a comprehensive concept in collaboration with Railway Metrics and Dynamics (RMD), where RMD’s products will play a central role in reducing insurance costs and offering railway operators lower risk costs and premiums.
Association of Swedish Train Operating Companies, where RMD is an associate member, currently provides an insurance offering to the country’s operators in cooperation with Söderberg & Partners as insurance advisor. They operate under a Risk Management Program that will now be further developed jointly together with Tågföretagen and RMD.
Lower costs through preventive safety systems
The concept includes a risk table that allows operators to reduce their risk costs and insurance premiums by installing preventive technical safety systems in their vehicles. One example is precision positioning using RMD’s PMU‑C, developed with precision GPS and enabling direct connection to SOS Alarm in accordance with the Swedish Transport Administration’s requirements from a previously awarded procurement. Another example is the company’s rear‑view camera, which provides the driver with full visibility behind the vehicle and reduces the risk of incidents during shunting, switching and other manoeuvres.
The aim is to reduce both direct and indirect costs, increase efficiency in the railway system, and minimise uninsured risks.
