The Ingenious Rear-view Camera
Our rear-view camera increases safety, streamlines train shunting and enhances productivity. It is being used by several operators and is thoroughly tested in all weather conditions.
Increases safety, streamlines operations
Re-arranging railcars at a terminal typically requires the efforts of both the train driver and a signalman. With the new rear-view cameras, the train driver can now manage the entire process independently, increasing efficiency and allowing for more effective and safer use of personnel.
RMDs rear-view camera offers real-time monitoring of the rear of the train. It significantly enhances safety and help streamlines operations.
The rear-view camera – a money saver
Rail transport operates everywhere, at all hours of the day and throughout the year. If a railcar needs to be set aside due to a fault, it can become costly. Personnel may need to be transported to remote locations, as visibility in the direction of travel is required even when reversing. The entire process has previously involved additional staffing, overtime payments, and delays, along with the associated costs.
During shunting at a terminal or reversing a train into a different track, it is common practice to use a hand-held radio control unit. The camera display – any standard movile device – can easily be attached to a special accessory bracket. This way, a single operator can reverse the trains, since the camera provides a detailed view of what is going in behind the train when reversing. This, in turn, saves a lot of operating costs.
Extra support when needed
The rear-view cameras streamline such procedures, as the train driver can continuously monitor the rear from the cab. Additionally, someone located elsewhere can provide support to the driver during operations. Everything the camera records can be viewed on a dashboard, offering extra reassurance to the train driver.
