CFL cargo Sweden tests RMD’s rear-view camera

Our camera system is generating significant interest. CFL cargo Sweden recently signed an agreement with RMD to test and evaluate the “Digital Surveillance Camera System,” specifically RMD’s rear-view camera. The tests are scheduled to take place from November 2024 to April 2025.

CFL cargo Sweden, headquartered in Nässjö, is a subsidiary of CFL SA. The company is responsible for operating freight trains in the Swedish domestic market, particularly between the Port of Gothenburg and the regions of Central and Northern Sweden.

Rear-view camera increases efficiency

CFL cargo Sweden is now looking to test RMD’s rear-view camera to evaluate how it eliminates the need for hazardous work involving shunting personnel standing on footboards during reversing operations, and also how it can increase overall operational efficiency.

– Safety is a top priority for everyone, and the ban on standing on footboards during reversing is a positive step. But there are also clear economic benefits in faster, more efficient, and less personnel-intensive shunting operations, says Jan Lindqvist, CEO of RMD.

High interest in the rear-view camera

– We are currently receiving a large number of requests for Proof-of-Concepts, from other Nordic countries, South America, and Australia. It’s very encouraging that the financial benefits offered by the camera system are attracting so much attention, concludes Jan Lindqvist.

CFL cargo Sweden has sister companies in France, Belgium, and Germany. Last year, CFL SA had 1,200 employees and generated a turnover of 2.6 billion SEK.

In Sweden, the company currently operates several container shuttle trains – including routes between Gothenburg and Insjön, Jönköping, Nässjö, Hallsberg, Avesta Krylbo, Gävle, and Karlshamn. They also run train services to and from Helsingborg.
