Railway Metrics and Dynamics Receives Order for 11 PMU Sensors for Paid Pilot Project at the Port of Gothenburg
The Port of Gothenburg has placed an order for 11 PMU sensors from Railway Metrics and Dynamics (RMD) as part of a paid pilot project. The objective is to enhance safety and reduce damage to both rolling stock and infrastructure.
The test period will run for three months following installation, which is scheduled to take place in the near future. The service will be delivered to the Port of Gothenburg under the TaaS (Technology as a Service) model and will generate revenue of SEK 17,490 per month for RMD.
The sensors will be installed on buffer stops, the safety devices located at the ends of railway tracks that prevent trains, locomotives, or railcars from running beyond the end of the track. Monitoring is performed automatically and continuously, and in the event of an incident or when predefined threshold values are exceeded, an alarm is automatically generated through a central reporting system.
The pilot project will enable the Port of Gothenburg to monitor and collect data on its infrastructure, providing insights that can help reduce damage and improve safety throughout the facility.
Growing Market Interest in RMD’s Technology
At the same time, the pilot project provides RMD with an opportunity to evaluate how the sensors perform in real-world operations. The company is currently experiencing strong demand for its products, both in Sweden and internationally.
“In recent months, we have seen growing interest in our solutions and have received several orders for our sensors. This agreement confirms that the PMU can be used effectively on both fixed infrastructure and rolling stock,” says Jan Lindqvist, CEO of Railway Metrics and Dynamics.
“The Performance Monitoring Unit is an advanced real-time monitoring device, and by collecting and analyzing information on incidents, anomalies, and infrastructure changes, operators can gain a better understanding of underlying causes and recurring patterns. This is a highly valuable product for the railway industry,” concludes Jan Lindqvist.
PMU – Advanced Real-Time Monitoring
The Performance Monitoring Unit (PMU) is an advanced real-time monitoring device designed for railway vehicles and infrastructure. By continuously collecting and analyzing operational data, it enables the early detection of incidents, abnormalities, and changes that could affect safety, performance, or maintenance requirements.
The technology supports predictive maintenance strategies, improves operational reliability, and helps infrastructure owners and railway operators make more informed decisions based on real-time data and long-term trend analysis.
